The discussion on the motion to thank the President for his inaugural speech of the budget session almost turned into a PM-praising event by BJP members.

Moving the motion from the ruling benches in Lok Sabha, BJP’s young MP Anurag Thakur mentioned ‘Modi’ 10 times and ‘Prime Minister’ 20 times in his marathon speech.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey also seconded the motion and mentioned PM nine times in his speech.

“Modiji is known for achieving things that could not be achieved in 60 years, in six months,” said Thakur amid enthusiastic thumping of desks by BJP members.

Dubey said, “Our PM always says ‘I am an ordinary man and I want to do small things.’ If you (the Opposition) do not notice small works in the President’s speech, then it is your fault.”

While Dubey credited Modi for the arrests in the information leakage in the petroleum ministry, Thakur said, “Our coal mines are now selling like gold mines and this is the achievement of the Modi government.”

The Prime Minister was present in the House throughout the debate.

Meanwhile, Congress’ Mallikarjun Kharge nailed the government for its “failure” to bring black money in 100 days and distribute it among the poor.

He also alleged that the government had cut wages worth `11,000 crore in MGNREGA.

Kharge then confronted the PM, accusing him of changing the land law to appease industrialists.

He also took potshots at Modi for the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan.
