MUMBAI: The second day of eTailing India’s third expo held in the city saw its attendance swell to about 1,500 visitors as connecting to the consumer and packaging were the highlights of the day.

The day also saw the launch of the second edition of the vendor guide by Ashish Jhalani, founder, eTailing India, who is also the chief organiser of the event.

“The launch of the vendor guide today is our commitment to chronicling data pertaining to profiles, write-ups and directory listings of top vendors across various sectors such as technology, marketing, logistics, financial services, among others in the e-commerce space,” said Jhalani.

NC Saha, director, Indian Institute of Packaging, an autonomous body under the ministry of commerce, addressed the conference on packaging.

“While transporting products from various zones to the customer, key factors to keep in mind with regard to packaging is that it takes care of pilferage, damage, protection & presentation,” he said.

Other speakers on the day’s panel discussions included Ian Jindal, considered an e-commerce visionary, Saurav Chakraborty of Facebook India, and Bansari Vyas of Adobe. Chakraborty talked about expanding e-commerce business using Facebook.

“50% of customers worldwide look for delivery data when they start to shop online,” Jindal said. “80% of customers want progress updates after purchase, either through sms or mail.”
