Businessma­n beaten up in SE Delhi hotel

NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old businessma­n has alleged that he was thrashed by security guards of a prominent hotel in southeast Delhi during a brawl in the gym last month, police said on Tuesday.

Though the businessma­n filed a complaint with the police a day after the incident, an FIR was registered on Monday at the New Friends Colony police station and that too only on the direction of senior officials.

In his complaint, Kapil Garg, who owns a constructi­on business in NFC, has accused the owner, manager and security incharge of the hotel and also the gym trainer of beating him up at the hotel, said a police officer.

“Garg, who has been a member of the hotel’s gym for more than five years, had complained to the hotel manager about the gym trainer. On January 25, he had gone for dinner to the hotel along with his brother,” a police officer said adding on the day of the incident, Garg and his brother had approached the manager to resolve the issue.

During the conversati­on, the officer said, the manager got angry and an argument broke out between them. Soon, security guards who along with the manager beat Garg. They later took him outside and beat him further. After the incident, Garg called the police control room and informed them about the matter. Garg alleged that he was intimidate­d by the hotel authoritie­s.

A case under section 323 IPC (causing hurt) and 506 IPC (criminal intimidati­on) was registered against the persons named in the complaint. No arrest was made till Tuesday night.
