Traffic violators to get on the spot e-challans

-

NEW DELHI: Delhiites will no longer have to run from pillar to post to deposit their traffic challans now as governance in the city becomes more technology driven. The Delhi Traffic Police have come up with a new facility through which the challaning officers will be equipped with e-challan machines. People will now be able to make cash payments for compounding the notice.

“This facility will be a major help in facilitating the compounding of pending notices issued for traffic violations. Instead of going to the fine depositing centres people can now deposit fines on the spot,” said a senior traffic official.

The notices are issued under section 133 of the Motor Vehicle Act, for various traffic violations committed by the road users.

Currently, if caught violating traffic rules, one is required to deposit the compounding amount at any one of the seven cash collection centres located in the city.

Now, instead of standing in long queues at the cash collection counters people can deposit their fine amounts with the traffic police challaning officer and get the notice cleared.

“The person depositing the fine will be handed over a printed receipt of payment which will contain all the details along with the signatures of the authorised officers,” said the official.

The service will be available on all seven days of the week from 7am till 9pm. HTC
