NEW DELHI: Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Nabam Tuki said that the Union home ministry decision to extension of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in entirety in all districts bordering Assam could have been more tactfully handled.

“This was a unilateral decision and we were not at all aware of the AFSPA extension in the first place. It could have been much more tactfully handled. There was simply no need for it at all as these districts are peaceful. We had a core committee meeting just a few days back and there was no information of insurgents operating in these districts,” Tuki told HT.

He said the move would scare away all tourists and investors who are keen on Arunachal Pradesh.
