Minor presses rape charges against father, grandfather & uncle in Rajasthan

JODHPUR: A 15-year-old girl has charged her father, grandfather and uncle with raping her for two years and threatening to kill her if she disclosed the matter to the police, a top Rajasthan police official said on Saturday.

The victim, who hails from a village about 35 kilometres from Jodhpur, alleged that the trio threatened to kill her after she was forced to abort her pregnancy, according to the police.

The victim told police that her mother died 10 years ago. Later, she lost her two brothers too.

Jodhpur deputy commissioner of police (West) Rahul Jain told HT on Saturday that the girl somehow managed to give the trio a slip on March 9 and reached her maternal grandfather’s home.

On March 10, they lodged an FIR against the three.

Jain said the police were carrying out an impartial investigation in the case as the accused too have alleged harassment by the girl and her maternal grandfather.

According to sources, the duo blamed the village police for not taking action against the culprits and approached the home ministry for help.

Jodhpur additional deputy commissioner Kailash Singh Sandhu said just 10 days ago, the home minister’s office had directed him to probe the case.
