Expect to make some arrests soon: Police

A class nine student, on her way to school in west Delhi’s Ranhola, was allegedly abducted by two youth in a car and gang-raped. The victim is believed to have known the accused, but could not recognise one of them. The police said they have identified both suspects and have detained them. A Delhi Police constable and his friend have been arrested for raping a woman in west Delhi’s Ranhola. According to police, the accused have been identified as Kailash and Chhote. The 30-yearold woman, a resident of Shiv Vihar, had complained against them, alleging they gang-raped her in her house. On the basis of her complaint, police registered an FIR. It was registered under IPC sections 376-2D and 506 at Ranhola police station. The body of a 17-year-old student, who went missing, was found in an apartment in Rajeev Ratan Awas, housing society, in west Delhi’s Ranhola area. The victim was identified as Nitish Thakur, a NEW DELHI: The police have questioned over 50 people in connection with the rape of a two-anda-half-year old girl in west Delhi. The police recorded detailed statements of over 25 locals and scanned CCTV footage accessed from the area.

No arrests were made in the case till late Saturday night. Fourteen teams have been formed to identify, trace and nab the accused.

The police have accessed CCTV footage from a neighbour which shows the two men on a bike and the girl seated between them. The footage is hazy because there was no power at the time of recording.

“The footage just shows the two men driving away with a child between them. Only the feet of the girl are visible. The number plate of the bike was not visible. We are however trying to refine the footage with help of technical experts,” police said.
