Don’t blame us for recent incidents in non-BJP states, asserts Amit Shah

PATNA: BJP president Amit Shah on Monday said his party must not be blamed for the recent spate of incidents, including the Dadri lynching, which took place in opposition-ruled states in the country.

Shah also said the party will decide on the chief ministerial candidate after the NDA wins two-thirds majority in Bihar.

Referring to the controversies around the Dadri lynching and the returning of literary awards after the murder of Kannada writer MM Kalburgi, Shah said both incidents occurred in non-BJP ruled states — UP and Karnataka — for which the Samajwadi Party and Congress, respectively, were accountable.

“Voters have foiled their (Grand Alliance) evil designs and given a befitting reply to them in the constituencies which went to the polls in the last two phases of elections in Bihar,” Shah claimed.

Shah said as per reports from the party’s booth-level workers, the NDA would win 32 to 34 seats in the first phase and 22 to 24 in the second phase, of the total 81 seats that have gone to poll so far.

“Youth, women, farmers and poor people rose over considerations of caste, community and creed, and voted for the NDA,” he claimed.

On the BJP’s chief ministerial face, he said the party would decide on the candidate only after the completion of the assembly polls. “BJP’s parliamentary board will take a call on it,” he added.
