Offices can help manage travel time

-

More than half of the employees who were part of the Shine.com survey said that flexi time could help people save time, money and energy, and that they could be more productive working from home.

“This is the the age of laptops and WiFi anyway and we are always connected to work,” they say, adding that corporates as far as possible should make this facility available to as many employees as possible.

As many as 26.47% employees said that organisations should organise pick-up and drop-off for all those who stay far from their offices. This would help employees stay relaxed and they will not be worried about how and when to reach office. It would also bring in more discipline in their worklives.

When asked if organisations should have a fixed time slab for drop facilities, as many as 39.09% were of the opinion that organisations should allow employees, especially women, to avail cab facilities anytime after 7 pm.

As for the best solutions for reaching work bright, fresh and early every day, respondents suggested that the best way to achieve this was to stay close to the workplace. About 16.67% said that no matter what the status of an employee, the Metro was the cleanest and the quickest way to travel. As many as 40% were of the opinion that employees should organise their time and leave early for work. This was possible if pick and drop facilities were provided by office.

As for what employees did to make their office commute less stressful, 56.40% said that they listened to music or read while travelling to work. As many as 33.22% said they used their phones/laptops to check emails so that they were able to save work time lost in commuting and only 10.38% said they talked on the phone to pass time.

Where safety was concerned, 42.90% said they felt quite safe commuting to work, 34.32% said they felt insecure taking office cab/public transport, while 22.77% said they did not mind commuting at any hour of the day.

The best takeaway? Being organised. “Organise your time well and leave early for work,” the respondents said.
