MISHRA, THE SECOND IN COMMAND IN THE FORCE, WAS APPOINTED ADDITIONAL DG OF THE CENTRAL RESERVE POLICE FORCE

NEW DELHI: In a major reshuffle, 12 senior Delhi Police officials were given new assignments even as Special Commissioner (administration), Deepak Mishra, was sent on a central deputation on Monday.

This is the first major reshuffle after Delhi Police chief Alok Kumar Verma took over the reins of the 80,000 strong force in March.

Mishra, who was the second in command in the force, was appointed additional DG of the Central Reserve Police Force on a deputation basis. Mishra, who also held the charge of special commissioner (law and order) in the past, was one of the contenders for the post of the Delhi Police chief after BS Bassi retired.

Mishra is set to retire in November 2018.

Sources said he was given immediate relief on Monday for assumption of charge at the central security force.

Meanwhile, former joint commissioners SK Gautam (central range), Sanjay Beniwal (eastern range) and RS Krishnia (southeastern range) have been made chiefs of Security, Operations and Armed Police and Recruitment units, respectively, sources said.

Special Commissioner of the Operation wing of Delhi Police, Sundari Nanda, will now be taking over the post of Special Commissioner for Women’s safety, Airport and Modernisation, a newly-created position in the force.

V Ranganathan, an IPS officer of the 1997 batch, will be the new Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police’s anti-terrorism unit Special Cell, sources said.

The position of Joint Commissioners in the central, eastern and south-eastern ranges have been taken over by VS Chahal, presently posted at Security unit, Satish Golcha, presently at the Economic Offences Wing and RP Upadhyay, who was recently transferred to Delhi.

Sandeep Goel will be the new chief of Delhi Traffic Police, a department in which he had earlier served as a Joint Commissioner, a source said.
