Liquor in city: Sisodia Kejriwal to attend Mother Teresa’s canonisation
No new liquor shops in Delhi this year, malls the only exception, says deputy CM
NEW DELHI: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and health minister Satyendar Jain will attend Mother Teresa’s canonisation ceremony on September 4 in Vatican City.
Jain had tweeted on Tuesday afternoon, “Waiting for L-G’s approval (file on L-G’s table for last 7 days), to attend Mother Teresa’s Sainthood celebration in Vatican (sic).”
According to sources, the clearance came on Tuesday evening.
According to Delhi government officials, the CM accepted the invitation of the Missionaries of Charity. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee will also attend the ceremony.
Officials said that file was sent to the General Administration Department but they requested for the approval of L-G. “Officers are scared and don’t want to approve anything without the L-G’s permission. Hopefully, the L-G will approve it so that we can attend the ceremony,” Jain had said.
Mother Teresa, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, will be added to the list of saints by Pope Francis in September. HTC
