-

Delhi Police crime branch has arrested four persons, including a woman, allegedly involved in a human trafficking racket and rescued four girls.

John Khadka (46), Purnima (27), Nira (39) and Harish (30), allegedly trafficked young girls and boys from Nepal to Delhi on the pretext of sending them to a foreign country for jobs.

On Saturday, Ram Khadka, member of an NGO — All India Nepalese Unity Forum — informed police that three trafficked girls had came to his office after fleeing from the custody of traffickers.

On inquiry, the girls said that one Tirath Raj, a resident of Kathmandu, Nepal, lured young girls and boys by promising them New Zealand’s work visa.

“The victims were called for interview to different hotels in Kathmandu. The agent took ₹8 to ₹10 lakh from each person and asked them to contact John KhadkainDelhiforvisaandother formalities. After the victims reached Delhi, Khadka kept them as hostages in his house at west Delhi’s Sagarpur and also kept their passports and other documents,” joint commissioner of police, crime,RavindraYadavsaid.

Khadka allegedly molested the girls at night and tried to push them into prostitution. When the girls objected, Nira and Hatish threatened them of dire consequences and beat them. Three out of the four girls, however, managed to escape and approached the NGO.

“On the basis of information, a raid was conducted and the fourth girl was rescued. Three persons were nabbed, who confessed to their involvement in the racket during questioning,” Yadav said.

“They revealed that they were in contact with agents in Nepal, who used to lure people and take money from them promising to send them to foreign countries , but instead sold them to the agents in Delhi,” an investigator said.

Ten Nepalese passports and one laptop has been recovered from the accused. HTC
