EX-MEMBER OF AAP, HENRY GEORGE, ACCUSED BALYAN AND HIS SUPPORTERS OF BEATING HIM IN HIS MOHAN GARDEN OFFICE

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator from Uttam Nagar, Naresh Balyan landed in trouble on Sunday when he was named in a cross-FIR registered at the Uttam Nagar police station.

One of the FIRs that included Balyan’s name was registered on a complaint filed by a former AAP member, Henry George, who accused him and his supporters of thrashing him in his office at Mohan Garden.

The second FIR was registered on the complaint of Balyan’s supporter against the former AAP member and his supporters.

Balyan’s supporters accused George and his men of physical assault and misbehaviour. Police said the medical examinations of men from both the groups were conducted after which the crossFIR was registered.

“Their complaints were used verbatim in the FIRs,” said Deependra Pathak, joint commissioner of police (southwestern range).

A police officer said that on Sunday afternoon, George along with his supporters approached the Uttam Nagar police and filed a complaint in which he alleged that he was beaten up by the supporters of the AAP MLA in his presence.

“George, who is also the vicepresident of a local RWA, alleged that he was in his office when Balyan arrived with his supporters and beat him. He, however, did not accuse Balyan of physically assaulting him,” said the officer adding George’s office is barely 20 meters away from Balyan’s office.

In a counter complaint, the officer said, Balyan’s supporter Mahavir Fauji, accused George and his men of assaulting him. “A separate FIR was filed on Fauji’s complaint as well,” said the officer.

“I have nothing to do with the fight. I was there to attend an inaugural function. My party volunteers said that a Congress worker who was drunk was present there and he started hurling stones at them. The workers then got involved. A counter case has been filed by the party volunteers,” Balyan told HT.
