ARMY MAN FOUND DEAD AT BUS STAND
NEWDELHI:The body of a 42-yearold army personnel was found at a bus stand in northwest Delhi’s GT Karnal road on Tuesday afternoon.
Subhash Chandra, hailing from Jammu, was posted in the Delhi unit. Passersby at the bus stand spotted his body at 1.30 pm and called the police.
“He was lying on the roadside. When we checked his pocket, we found a bus ticket, his wallet, mobile,cashandanIDcardwhich helped us identify him. It seems Chandra had gone to Jammu on a holiday for a brief period and returnedtoDelhiinabusonTuesday,” said a senior police officer.
There were no visible injury marksonhisbody.Hewastakento BabaJagjivanRamMemorialhospitalandhisbodyhasbeensentfor a postmortem examination to be conducted on Wednesday.
“The postmortem will help us know the cause and time of death. It appears to be a natural death but since he was found on the roadside, we have initiated an investigation. Action will be taken once the autopsy report is out,” a senior police officer said.
He added, “There were 99 missed calls from his family and friends on his mobile. We have informed his family.”
According to the police, lance havaldar Chandra boarded a bus fromJammuboundforJaipurvia Delhi.“Thebusdrivertoldusthat nobodynoticedwhenChandragot out of the vehicle. He left his bag behind. The conductor noticed it once the bus reached Jaipur. There was an army uniform in it and a diary,” said the officer.
Police said that no foul play is suspected in his death as his cash andmobilewerenotstolen.Chandra appeared fit and was dressed inacivildresswhenhewasfound. “So far no case has been registered,” the officer said. HTC
