Work till your idols turn rivals — that’s the success mantra

“The end of the road does not equate to the end of the world. Sometimes, the solution is to walk back and simply pick another path,” says Taylor LN, a motivational speaker. This quote encapsulates a great philosophy in life. I believe the prerequisite of success is never to give up.

My teacher once told me a short story, which was focused on the theme of going the extra mile to succeed. She told me that if you trap a few crabs in a jar they would try to escape. However, what was perplexing about their behaviour was that whenever one crab tried to escape, the others would pull it down. This is painfully similar to how human beings behave sometimes. The harsh reality is that there will always be people who will want you to fail.

In such times, all you have to do is believe in yourself and continue to strive towards fulfilling that objective on which you’ve set your mind. For that it is essential to always have an indomitable spirit. One should never fear or shy away from hard work. As Khaled Hosseini, the Afghan-born American novelist, has stated, “I suspect the truth is that we are waiting, all of us, against insurmountable odds, for something extraordinary to happen to us.”

Hard work is the price that we pay for success and all the gifts of life. Work till your idols become your rivals — this should be the motto for leading a successful life. Pursue success relentlessly, and it’s sure to follow you someday.
