15-year-old girl alleges sexual assault by friend in Bhogal

NEW DELHI:A 15-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by two friends, including a former classmate, in south east Delhi’s Jangpura-Bhogal locality. The incident occurred after the girl turned down a marriage proposal made by one of the friends.
In her complaint, the girl told police that her former classmate introduced her to one of his friends last year. She began hanging out with him, but stopped when he asked her to marry him. As revenge, he allegedly clicked her objectionable pictures and posted them on Facebook, the girl’s mother told the police.
According to the girl, the boy called her to a place on November 3 on the pretext of offering his apology. When the girl met him, he allegedly slapped her and touched her inappropriately. Her former classmate was also present on the spot, who had allegedly grabbed both of her hands.
After the incident, the girl called her mother, who informed the police. A senior police officer said that a case under sections 354A (sexual harassment), 354B (sexual assault), 354C (Voyeurism), 34 (common intention) of the IPC and Section 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered GIRL’S MOTHER
against the two persons at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station.
Police said the investigation is on and so far no arrests have been made. Officers suspect that both persons could be minors.
The girl’s mother said despite a case being registered on November 4, the police are yet to take action. The girl stopped going to school 10 months ago. Both accused persons are Afghans, the girl told police in her complaint.
“Our family is from Afghanistan. My daughter was born in Delhi. One of the persons was following her everywhere since she met him through a common friend. She wanted to be only friends with him. He would stand outside our house for hours and wait for her. When she refused his advances, he posted her pictures on Facebook and threatened her with dire consequences,” the mother said.
