POLICE HAVE RECOVERED A SCOOTER, PRINTER AND CARTONS AND POLYTHENE PACKING SHEETS WITH FLIPKART’S LOGO

NEW DELHI: The police on Wednesday arrested two persons who allegedly replaced original products ordered through an e-commerce website.

The accused, Vikash Kumar Jha, 22, and Roshan Kumar, 22, are residents of south Delhi’s Lado Sarai. Police have recovered a scooter, printer and cartons and polythene packing sheets with the company’s, Flipkart, logo.

Police said in view of increasing online frauds across south Delhi, a team of Fatehpur Beri collected information and raided Lado Sarai area.

During questioning, Vikash disclosed that he came in contact with one Raj Kumar, who worked as a delivery boy with Instakart, a courier agency that delivers products of Flipkart in Delhi-NCR. He said Raj Kumar provided him the details of the customers through WhatsApp.

After taking details, he would prepare fake bills along with his accomplice and pack items like soap and biscuit for delivery. Due to this, Flipkart began receiving complaints from customers that their products were not being delivered. Both the accused had managed to procure the packing sheets and cartons of Flipkart to deliver the products at the address.

Nupur Prasad , additional deputy commissioner (south), said, “The main accused, Raj Kumar, is absconding. While taking a courier for delivery he used to check it through bar code. If the courier contained worthy products like mobile phones, the information was passed on to his accomplices to make a fake packet to be delivered at the address.”

She said Flipkart had also approached them to intervene.

After delivering the courier, the trio would divide the money equally. They were making good money with this modus operandi. Police are investigating the case and trying to find out if others were involved. Despite repeated attempts, Flipkart could not be contacted.
