Another student lodges complaint of rape

NAGPUR: Another tribal girl on Wednesday came forward with a complaint of rape against the employees of Nimbaji Kokre Ashramshal­a (tribal boarding school) at Hiwarkhed near Khamgaon in Buldhana district.

The 12-year old is the third tribal student of the school to lodge a complaint against the employees.

According to special investigat­ion a team (SIT) source investigat­ing the rape charges, the girl, accompanie­d by her parents, lodged the complaint with the Khamgaon police station on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, an assistant tribal project officer and an education extension officer of the tribal department were suspended on Tuesday for ignoring the exploitati­on of minor tribal girl students in the school.

SG Sutar, assistant project officer, and VA Wankhede, education extension officer, were suspended by the state’s tribal commission­er. A communicat­ion in this regard reached the office of additional tribal commission­er, Amravati, on Tuesday, said Girish Sarode, the additional tribal commission­er.

The incident came to light when one of the girls went home for Diwali and complained of stomach ache to her parents, who informed the local village leader. Their complaint was taken up by the police. Two girls of the school lodged complaints with the local police against its teachers and employees.
