SDMC to introduce Aadharlinked attendance in Dec
NEW DELHI: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided to introduce Aadhar-enabled biometric attendance system in all its offices by December. The initiative has been taken as a part of ‘digital India’ programme of the Government of India.
The corporation will install 1,348 devices at the headquarter, zonal offices, schools, health units, offices of the Department of Environment Management Services, horticulture department and community service department in each ward. An amount of ₹1.33 crore will be spent on this project.
The device will be a tabletbased integrated attendance machine with a fingerprint scanner.
“As soon as an employee marks attendance (using finger print/ Iris) and presses the last six digits of his/her Aadhar card, the machine will immediately match the details with the Unique Identification Authority of India’s database of the employee,” said a senior SDMC official.
He added: “A committee has been formed to procure the devices. The warranty period of these machines will be two years. After that, we will maintain them.”
According to officials, the system will help in locating fraud identity and impersonation issues within the organisation. Besides, the new system will also ensure punctuality of staff.
Shyam Sharma, SDMC mayor, said, “Moreover, the location of the employee will be reflected on the attendance sheet. He/she will not be able to mark attendance in back date and someone else’s attendance under the new system.”
The devices will be moveable and helpful for field employees. These can be easily connected to internet through an in-built sim slot with Wi-Fi option.
