India Internatio­nal Trade Fair to be inaugurate­d on Monday

NEW DELHI: The India Internatio­nal Trade Fair (IITF) will start from Monday at Pragati Maidan.

The fair this year will be inaugurate­d by President Pranab Mukherjee and have the theme of ‘Digital India’.

A grand annual tradition in the national capital, this year also visitors will have an array of stalls and other entertainm­ent programs to choose from at the fair.

Seven thousand participan­ts, including 280 companies from 24 countries, 27 states, four union territorie­s, many government department­s and agencies, and close to 1,000 rural artisans and craft persons are expected, the Internatio­nal Trade Promotion Organisati­on said.

The fair will open only for business visitors till November 18. General public can visit the fair from November 19-27.

People can book tickets online or buy them at the counters in Pragati Maidan.

This year’s IITF will have WiFi accessibil­ity at multiple locations and installati­on of telecom towers that will ease connectivi­ty.

There will be wheelchair­s for the differentl­y abled people, lounge for senior citizens, shuttle services for women and older people, and also prepaid taxi services at certain gates.

Every year, the event has a partner country and state, and a focus country and state, which play prominent roles in the events. This year’s partner country and states are South Korea and Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand respective­ly. The focus country and state are Belarus and Haryana respective­ly. “These countries and states are usually highlighte­d, and their leaders even share the dais with the Indian President ,” said an ITPO official.
