India International Trade Fair to be inaugurated on Monday
NEW DELHI: The India International Trade Fair (IITF) will start from Monday at Pragati Maidan.
The fair this year will be inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee and have the theme of ‘Digital India’.
A grand annual tradition in the national capital, this year also visitors will have an array of stalls and other entertainment programs to choose from at the fair.
Seven thousand participants, including 280 companies from 24 countries, 27 states, four union territories, many government departments and agencies, and close to 1,000 rural artisans and craft persons are expected, the International Trade Promotion Organisation said.
The fair will open only for business visitors till November 18. General public can visit the fair from November 19-27.
People can book tickets online or buy them at the counters in Pragati Maidan.
This year’s IITF will have WiFi accessibility at multiple locations and installation of telecom towers that will ease connectivity.
There will be wheelchairs for the differently abled people, lounge for senior citizens, shuttle services for women and older people, and also prepaid taxi services at certain gates.
Every year, the event has a partner country and state, and a focus country and state, which play prominent roles in the events. This year’s partner country and states are South Korea and Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand respectively. The focus country and state are Belarus and Haryana respectively. “These countries and states are usually highlighted, and their leaders even share the dais with the Indian President ,” said an ITPO official.
