Why are you upset? Shah asks Oppn

The idea is unexplainable as to why this has happened… the measure is strongly anti poor.

The latest gimmick of finance ministry’s demonetisation of currency notes before 2005 is basically an attempt to obfuscate the issue of black money that is stashed outside the country.

The present government is not in a position to measure the correct quantum of black money, because those who have black money will actually convert it into new currency notes

The sufferers are the aam aaurat and aadmi; those who are illiterate, who have no access to banking facilities. They will be the ones who will be affected by such diversionary measures.

People who have small savings and no bank accounts and their life savings will be targeted. The present scheme does nothing to remove black money from circulation. NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Friday said rival parties had ‘exposed’ themselves by opposing the central government’s move to scrap `500 and `1,000 banknotes with an aim to fight corruption.

“Why are they upset?” Shah asked during a press conference, daring the opposition parties to make the demonetisation of currency notes a poll issue. He, however, said the BJP-led government did not take the step with an eye on the upcoming state elections.

The BJP president trained his gun on the Congress, AAP, BSP in November 2016

Zara bhi nahi kiya tha. Agar Congress aise kehti hai to safeed jhoot bolti hai (we did not oppose (demonetisation) a bit. If Congress is claiming such, it is saying white lie).

I can understand that dealers of black money, fake currency, hawala and drug are rattled. But I can’t fathom as to why leaders like Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mayawati and Arvind Kejriwal are joining the list of such people

The kind of environment these political parties are making I want to ask them if you are in support of black money, hawala operators, terrorism, fake currency dealers...

The demonetisation move will do no harm to the poor. But some political parties have become poor

All patriots, the common man have welcomed the move. I want to make it clear that no tax payer needs to worry and the government will protect the interests of the poor and SP for raising objections to the government’s drastic measure. The parties had denounced the Centre’s move, calling it ‘anti-poor’.

“I can understand the pain of those keeping black money, fake currency — terrorists, hawala operators, Maoists and drug dealers. What has amazed me is the way some political parties are rattled.”

“People are closely watching the reaction of political parties... People should questions these four parties. They have exposed themselves,” Shah said.

“I want to ask Mulayam Singh Yadav (SP President), the BSP chief, Arvind Kejriwal as to why are you pained? If politics (BJP chief) becomes cleaner with a measure and black money is taken out of electoral politics, then why should it pain political parties?” he said.

Shah admitted that people were facing some difficulties, but “some pain is inevitable when a historical decision is taken”.

He said there was a lot of discussion before the notes were banned, and made an appeal to the common man to support the move.

“The Narendra Modi government has embarked on a campaign to end corruption. The step will greatly benefit the economy,” Shah said.
