NEW DELHI: Delhi governmentrun school principals and teachers will visit MCD schools to handover admission slips to parents of students seeking admission in Class VI.

Students move to government-run schools from MCD schools after Class V.

“Earlier, children passing out of Class V from MCD feeder schools had to approach link schools for admission in Class VI and their parents had to run from pillar to post to get the admission procedure completed,” said an official.

Deputy chief minister and education minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday directed the education department to send principals and teachers to MCD-run schools and handover admission slips between March 15 and April 1, 2017 to children studying in Class V in the current academic session.

“For the first time, parents of these students seeking admission to Class VI in Delhi government schools will no longer be needed to stand in queues outside these schools,” an official said.

Officials said that it was also decided that on a particular day between April 1-15, children and teachers of MCD schools will be invited to government schools for celebrating children’s parties.

Officials said that the entire admission process will be made online after taking the data from the MCDs and admission slips will be made available to children.
