Let the new year be one of hopes and challenges

Now that we have ushered in the New Year, we are all full of renewed hopes and expectations. Many of us, as a yearly routine, will be chalking out our plans to make life fare a little better this year. Of course, we will rejoice over the good things that happened in our lives over the last year, but our main concern would be how to learn from the mistakes and be optimistically cautious. Only then, we stand to be a gainer while we go through the next 12 months of challenges that will come our way.

Life has no meaning if it does not have to face challenges that hold big promises if dealt with boldly and determinedly. Let us, therefore, resolve that we would heartily and bravely take on all the challenges we may have to face and turn them into opportunities to make living for ourselves and others more meaningful and useful.

Let us think this time the way US author Ralph Waldo Emerson used to think, “Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.” That means we need to change our mindset to have good days for ourselves and also for the rest of sentient beings. Let us tell ourselves repeatedly that we have yet another year to do what we could not do thus far, and that we are here not be cowed down by mistakes. We will remind ourselves that no great man in history could be great without making great mistakes. Only those can make no mistakes who don’t do anything for fear of mistakes.
