For some organisations, happiness of employees matters the most
For retaining employees, many companies will simplify their work-life, and take into account the number of productive and not physical hours they have clocked. Many will offer a share in the wealth created by the company to their people. All these benefits will be targeted at improving employees’ happiness quotient.
Unisys is planning to formalise the platform in 2017 and promote individuals to leadership roles in various councils – CSR, sports, diversity etc. “This is the new norm for us to improve the employee happiness quotient while adhering to company policies and act as positive change agents for both engagement and health benefits. We will also be launching a Grey Cells Council, to encourage employees to focus on innovation which we think will increase the number of patents in 2017 as compared to last year,” says Subhashini Sriram, director – HR, Unisys India.
As for diversity and inclusion at the workplace, more women are likely to get promoted, there will be acceptance for the LGBT community and true diversity will be reflected by multi generations. Designations will no longer have any meaning, employees will become part of a value chain delivering work and perhaps get bitcoins in return for the work delivered, says Pankaj Bansal of People Strong.
Unisys has rolled out a diversity council led by male and female leaders from diverse backgrounds to form an inclusive agenda.
Companies are more focused now on being inclusive and diverse and “we are likely to see strong steps in that direction by employers across sectors. With the passing of the Disabilities Bill recently, we hope to see differently-abled individuals being integrated into the mainstream, especially in FMCG and consumer services, IT and ITeS sectors. Sectors like retail, banking and healthcare will increasingly offer flexi work options to women. Recruitment of foreign and NRI talent in pharma sector will also see an increase,” says Thammaiah BN, managing director, Kelly Services India.
