50YEAROLD SHAMBU DUMPED HIS FRIEND MALKHAN’S BODY NEAR ACANALNEXTTOHIS HOUSE IN KANJHAWALA

NEW DELHI: A 50-year-old man, who allegedly murdered his friend during an argument over ₹100, was arrested on Sunday. Police said Shambu murdered Malkhan on New Year’s Eve and dumped his body near a canal next to his house in outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala.

According to police, Malkhan’s father approached Kanjhawala police on the morning of January 1 alleging that Malkhan had stepped out to give curry to a neighbour but did not return home. The following day Malkhan’s body was found in an abandoned under-construction house in Kanjhawala’s Sawda colony. The local police then registered a murder case and started investigation.

Joint commissioner of police (crime), RS Yadav, said that on Saturday, police received information that Shambhu was involved in Malkhan’s murder and was planning to leave the city. The crime branch team then laid a trap near Haryana senior secondary school next to the Kajhawala bus stand and arrested Shambhu.

During interrogation, Shambu confessed that he and his friend Mobin had murdered Malkhan. On New Year’s eve, Malkhan while stepping out to give curry to a neighbour met Mobin and Shambu in the area. Shambu had then joined the two for a drink at Mobin’s house. The three had a drink, during which they had a quarrel over ₹100 that Malkhan reportedly owed Mobin. Shambu supported Mobin during the argument, and stabbed Malkhan with a sharp object. Shambu died of excessive bleeding. They panicked and dumped his body near the canal,” said an investigating officer.

Police said Shambu works as a labourer and had come to Mobin’s house to celebrate the New Year. Police are on the lookout for Mobin. HTC
