Once again the Earth has completed a trip of its journey around the Sun. Amid celebrations; there is a special tradition throughout the world to make resolutions and to follow them through the year. This year, I would suggest that you choose vegetarianism. It won’t just safeguard the lives of the myriad animals killed for food, but will also ensure good health for you and the environment at large.

By estimates, more than 56 billion farmed animals are slaughtered every year for food. By abstaining from killing or consuming these animals, you will no longer be part of this pain and suffering.

Vegetarianism is indeed the first step to stay fit and healthy. In this way, if your New Year’s resolution is to stay fit, you must become a vegetarian. As a bonus, vegetarianism promotes longevity, which is one of people’s major desires.

If you’re already a vegetarian, then make it a resolution to motivate others to adopt vegetarianism. When you stop eating meat, you feel light from inside. When you abstain from inflicting cruelty on animals, you will no longer be an agent of pain.

To atone for the violence to which you have been a contributor, resolve to never again taking another life.

Let’s try something more challenging: For instance, being humane. Compassion is the only way to maintain peace in the world. Leo Tolstoy rightly remarked, “As long as there are slaughterhouses there will always be battlefields.” Choose vegetarianism this time and include it in your habits. Trust me, it will be your best resolution so far.
