NEWDELHI:The Delhi Police have roped in specialists to counsel the minor girl who became pregnant and delivered a baby girl after being gang-raped by five teenagers over several months.

The specialists will help her overcome the trauma she underwent over the past some months.

The police have already detained the two juveniles, including the main accused. Three others continue to remain untraceable.

“The girl doesn’t want to see or accept her baby. But she is just 15 and in shock. She does not even understand the meaning or responsibilities of motherhood,” the officer said.

According to the officer, the girl is a destitute and an orphan and she does not even remember who her parents are and in which part of the country they live. All she remembers about herself is that she has grown up working as a rag picker and living in temporary shelters on pavements across the city with other rag pickers.

Two teams from the Mayur Vihar police station have been formed to find the teenager’s biological parents by identifying and visiting all the places where she stayed earlier.

A senior police officer said that apart from the teenager, they will also establish the biological father of the baby girl. To do this, they are planning to approach the child welfare committee (CWC ) and seek their permission to collect DNA samples of all the five boys.

“Two of them have already been apprehended. Their DNA samples would be collected once we get CWC’s nod. DNA samples of the other three can be collected when they are caught,” said the officer.

“We have got some leads about the absconding boys from the other two. Raids are being conducted,” the officer said.
