Three arrested for robbery in Mayapuri
POLICE SAID THEY RECEIVED A COMPLAINT ON JANUARY 4 FROM SUBODH KUMAR, A RESIDENT OF WAZIRABAD
NEW DELHI: Police arrested three men allegedly involved in robbery cases, from west Delhi’s Mayapuri on Wednesday.
The accused are Sonu Kumar, 23, Fariad Ali, 23, and Raju Sahni, 24, all are residents of Delhi.
Police said, they received a complaint on January 4 from Subodh Kumar, a resident of Wazirabad. Kumar told police he had visited a printing press at Phase-I of Mayapuri to deliver goods.
At printing press, he received a call from his mother and started walking towards the main road.
Meanwhile, four men started following him and thrashed him.
The four men allegedly snatched his phone, and a wallet containing a cash worth ₹ 9, 000. After beating him up, the four men fled from the spot, leaving him to his fate.
Police said the victim cried for help and called two policemen who were on night patrolling duty in the vicinity.
On his complaint, a case was registered at Mayapuri police station and investigations were initiated.
Deputy commissioner of police (west) Vijay Kumar said, “Our teams were already working on the robbery incidents in the area.”
During investigations the three robbers were arrested, he added.”
Police recovered one Aadhar card and wallet from their possession with cash of ₹1,500.
During questioning, the three men revealed that they used target pedestrians and labourers of the industrial area.
Police said that further investigations about the case are in progress so that the fourth accused, who is absconding, could be nabbed.
