NEW DELHI: A 75-year-old woman who allegedly sold illegal liquor in East Delhi’s Trilokpuri area was found dead in her residence on Friday.

Police said that the incident came to light in the morning, when the woman, identified as Amani Amal, was found dead by her relatives inside her house in B block, Trilokpuri.

Her throat was slit.

“She lived alone. She has a son, who is in Coimbatore, and a daughter who is married. The woman was looked after by her relatives who used to visit her every morning,” said a senior police official.

On the day of the incident, her relatives tried to get in touch with Ameen.

They went into her bedroom and found her dead.

Her mouth was gagged with a cloth and all her belongings were strewn around inside the house.

Eyewitnesses told police that some unidentified people had barged into her house a day before.

Police registered a case in the matter and maintained that this was a case of a robbery.

They said the killers had left with the woman’s belongings and that they have initiated a probe.

“We are investigating the case from all angles. We have also received inputs that she was selling illegal liquor in the area. A probe is on,” the officer said.
