Churchill hand Bengaluru second loss in a row in I-League

MARGAO :Holders Bengaluru FC lost 2-1 to Churchill Brothers FC, suffering their second straight defeat in the I-League on Friday. A Sunil Chhetri penalty put Bengaluru ahead before Anthony Wolfe equalised and Chesterpau­l Lyngdoh scored his first goal in the league. Bengaluru finished with ten men after John Johnson was sent off for a foul on Churchill coach Alfred Fernandes.

In Shillong, an upbeat Shillong Lajong face fifth-placed Mumbai FC, who lost to Aizawl FC in the last game, at home on Saturday. Lajong are seventh in the table with three points from four matches, Mumbai have six points from four. Hosts Chennai City FC, with one point from four games, take on Aizawl.

LONDON: The Manor F1 team has folded after going into administra­tion and failing to find a buyer, leaving the sport with 10 teams two months before the start of the season in Australia. Administra­tors FRP Advisory said while a separate entity that holds the right to enter the world championsh­ip remained active.

The British team was last in 2016 . The team was rescued from administra­tion in 2015 when it competed as Marussia - having started in 2010 as Virgin Racing.

GREATERNOI­DA: Mick Schumacher struck back in Free Practice 2 to go fastest, ahead of Harrison Newey, in Round 3 of the MRF Challenge 2016 at the Buddh Internatio­nal Circuit on Friday. He was faster than Newey and a returning Ralf Aron in Free Practice 2. In the opening practice session, Newey had beaten Schumacher and championsh­ip leader Joey Mawson. The MRF 1600 championsh­ip got underway with Ananth Shanmugam topping both practice sessions ahead of Anindith Reddy.

MUMBAI:Tanika Dhara, a 23-yearold national swimmer allegedly committed suicide by hanging at her home, police said on Friday. The Railways diver had won silver in 1m springboar­d in the Nationals in September.
