Allow Yadav to meet wife, HC directs BSF
The Delhi high court on Friday directed the Border Security Force (BSF) to allow jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav to meet his wife Sharmila over the weekend at Samba, where he is posted now.
BSF told the court that Sharmila’s apprehension was baseless and unfounded as she was in regular contact with Yadav over phone till February 7. It said Yadav was “not missing”, neither put under arrest or detention, but was transferred to a new battalion in Samba.
The force said his personal mobile phone was taken and a new phone with another SIM was given to him. It said his personal mobile, which was used by Yadav to upload the videos, was under investigation.
The court was hearing Sharmila, who filed a habeas corpus plea on Thursday, claiming that her husband has gone incommunicado and nobody could tell his whereabouts.
In her plea, she said the family was worried about his safety as they have not been able to contact him for the past three days. She pleaded that her husband be produced before the court.
Meanwhile, addressing reporters at the Rajasthan Frontier headquarters in Jodhpur, BSF director general KK Sharma said Yadav violated the code of conduct by uploading the complaint on social media, and a departmental inquiry was initiated against him in Samba sector.
“Application for voluntary retirement (VRS) by Tej Bahadur had been accepted and he knew that he would no longer stay in the BSF after 10 days and with a set agenda, he uploaded the complaint video on social networking sites,” the DG said.
“Now Tej Bahadur’s VRS has been dismissed and action against the indiscipline is underway,” he added.
