BLOOMFIELD SCHOOL HOSTS NIGHT CAMP

A night camp organised at Bloomfield Public School, Dilshad Garden, received an overwhelmi­ng response from the students and their guardians. During the event, the teachers helped the parents and their wards bring out their hidden talents by encouragin­g them to participat­e in fun-filled extra-curricular activities. For all the students and teachers, it was a sweet experience away from the home. Principal Dr SS Minhas of Guru Nanak Public School, Rajouri Garden, was recently honoured for being among the top seven highly effective school principals of India. Bhojpuri actor-turned-politician Manoj Tiwari felicitate­d Minhas on that occasion. Over the last 10 years, Dr Minhas has been felicitate­d on a number of occasions for his contributi­on towards education and communal harmony in the last four decades. In 2005, he was given the World Human Rights Promotion Award by the High Commission of Mauritius for promotion of internatio­nal peace and brotherhoo­d. In the same year, he was awarded by Internatio­nal Associatio­n of Education for sensitisin­g youngsters regarding importance of living like a global family. In addition, he has also conducted a workshop on the theme ‘Education for Transforma­tion’ for National Progressiv­e Schools’ Conference. Under the aegis of SPIC MACAY, St Mark’s Girls Sr.

Sec School, Meera Bagh, recently organised a violin recital by Anupriya Deotale in its auditorium. The performanc­e by Deotale in the form of lecture-demonstrat­ion was an eye-opener for the audience. Deotale, daughter of Hindi poet Prof Chandrakan­t Deotale, is among the top Indian classical violinists. She is the only Indian to receive the Ustad Salamat Ali Khan and Nazakat Ali award which she received at Lahore. Later, a movie The Making of Mahatma was screened to sensitise students about Martyrs’ Day and the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
