but in reality, one cannot reverse the past, and therefore its important to let bygones be.

Yes, it is true that we want a break after having given an exam. However, it is also important to plan these breaks, and to set a timeline for the same. The break needs to be finitely defined, and realistic in accordance with the goals. Your choice of activities planned during the break should be such so as to help rejuvenate and refresh you so that you can get back to preparing for the next exam.

Competing with your peers might help motivate you at times. However, it is important to avoid making comparisons between your work and anyone else’s. Instead, you should pay attention towards fulfilling your own expectations from yourself. Therefore, do not allow the pressure from peers to influence you.

We must keep in mind that there are multiple factors which could influence the exam results, which are not within our control. This is equally important for both students as well as the parents. Therefore, when your performance has not met your expectations, we must be able to take a reality check, and consider what factors could have influenced the results, and whether you could have done anything to change them.

On the basis of your performance in the exam, you would be able to objectively evaluate your own strengths and weaknesses. Use this evaluation to rule out options that may help you during the preparation, and at the same time serve as your asset as a career, and then narrow down your plans for the future.

Remember to focus not just on the final grades, but also to pay attention to the effort you put in behind the exam. Even if the results do not seem to be proportionate to your results, do keep in mind the influence of various external factors, and therefore make a realistic evaluation of your efforts.

In case you find yourself caught up in a loop thinking about your performance in the exam which has gone by, it is a better idea for you to think about the future, and talk to your parents and teachers to help guide you towards the next steps that you need to consider. This is not the time to cry over spilt milk, as you cannot reverse or undo what has already happened. Instead, express your emotions and strive to make the next steps in the correct direction.
