Rajesh Jolly, who was on artificial life support after he killed his business partner’s wife and son on April 11 night, died at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on Monday.

The 50-year-old was admitted to Kailash Hospital, Noida, after he suffered severe head injury in a violent confrontation at his business partner Ajay Khurana’s house in Noida’s Sector 39. After his condition deteriorated, Jolly was referred to the Safdarjung Hospital on April 14.

Jolly visited Khurana’s residence and allegedly attacked the family, killing his wife Anju (56), son Ankush (33), and injuring his elder son Amit (38), and domestic help Rajinder (28) on April 11 night. However, Jolly also got seriously injured in the fight.

Dinesh Yadav, superintendent of police (Noida), said Jolly died around 1.15 pm on Monday in Safdarjung Hospital. “We got a message on Monday that Jolly has passed away. As he never gained consciousness after the incident and was in a critical condition, we could not record his statement,” he said.

Yadav said with the death of the executor, the murder case against him is over. However, investigations are on to look into the conspiracy angle, he added.

When asked if Khuranas will be tried for Jolly’s murder, Yadav said,“When our police team visited Khurana’s house on the night of attack, they found Jolly inflicting injuries on his head. He probably died of asthma as he had breathlessness problem. The postmortem report will tell the cause of death.” He said the Khuranas were called for interrogation on Monday and they will be probed further.
