Kejriwal vows disease-free, clean Capital in manifesto
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday promised to transform Delhi into a clean city free from vector-borne diseases such as dengue and chikungunya which have ravaged the national capital over the years.
The eight-page AAP manifesto, released by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, is titled ‘Ab hum karenge Delhi swachh’ (now we will clean Delhi), seen as an attempt to counter the BJP-led NDA government’s ambitious Swachh Bharat mission.
Kejriwal said as much as he took on the BJP, which has been ruling the three municipal corporations for the last 10 years.
“Ye inke bas ki baat nahin (solving Delhi’s problems is not their cup of tea),” Kejriwal said, adding that BJP which cannot take care of the city’s garbage is “incapable” of ruling the national capital.

He said the clean Delhi target will be met within a year and the city will be free from vectorborne diseases within three years.
The civic elections, the first full-fledged polls to the three municipal bodies, will be held on April 23 and is being billed as a barometer of the AAP’s popularity two years after it won an overwhelming mandate in the Delhi assembly polls.
