No end to dengue, chikungunya if BJP wins polls, says Kejriwal
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal warned Delhiites on Friday against voting for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the April 23 civic elections as he claimed that the dengue and chikungunya crisis will continue in the capital if the BJP comes back to power in the municipal corporations.
“If people vote for the BJP, and their kid suffer from dengue and chikungunya, then nobody else but they themselves will be responsible for it. I will get your kid treated in Delhi government hospital for free, but the reason for lack of prevention will be yours because you voted for the dengue, chikungunya party,” Kejriwal said, addressing reporters outside his residence, hours before the campaigning came to close.
The AAP national convener also advised the people not to ‘waste’ their vote by supporting the Congress, as the grand old party has ‘finished’ across the country. He urged the voters to vote for the AAP in civic polls as they did two years back when the party won 67 of the 70 seats in Delhi assembly elections.
“Despite being in power for 10 years, the BJP could not clean the city. How will they do it in future? If you still vote for the BJP, then be assured that the level of sanitation and mosquito menace will remain unchanged for the next five years,” Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal listed the mosquito menace as the second reason to not to vote for the BJP and the Congress, the first being a probable hike in the power and water tariff if the opposition comes to power in the MCDs.
The Delhi CM had alleged that the ‘conspiracy’ was being hatched to take away power and water from the Delhi government. In an interview with the HT, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari had accused the Delhi CM of “threatening” people by making such statements.
