Wait over: DDA’s housing scheme with 13,000 flats to take off in June
The Delhi Development Authority is set to launch its housing scheme next month. A senior DDA official said that the department has completed all the formalities and the file is before the lieutenant-governor (L-G) for final approval.
The land owning agency is offering about 13,000 flats under the scheme, of which 350 are tworoom Middle Income Group (MIG) flats, and the rest either one-bedroom Lower Income Group Flats (LIG) or Janta flats.
“DDA will roll out the scheme after the L-G gives his approval in a meeting with DDA officials set for the third or last week of this month,” the official said.
Ending the speculations over whether DDA will put a five-year sale embargo, he said DDA is not putting any such restriction and a person will be free to sell these flats whenever they want.
However, unlike earlier years, people whose names figure in the draw of lots will have to purchase the flats, else their registration amount will be forfeited, he said. The amount that is to be deposited in the banks before the draw of lots, is ₹1 lakh for LIG and Janta flats and ₹2 lakh for MIG and HIG flats.
“DDA has completed all the formalities from its side and if the L-G does not make any last minute changes this is how the scheme would be,” he said.

After the scheme is announced, buyers would get about a month to submit the applications — the scrutiny of which would one more month.

The flats are spread across the city in places such as Sarita Vihar and Jasola in south Delhi, Dwarka in southwest, Pitampura and Rohini in northwest, Dilshad Garden in northeast, Paschim Vihar in the west and Mukherjee Nagar in the north.
