Senior BJP leader Vijender Gupta said that both Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were “hand in glove” in the alleged ₹400 crore tanker scam that took place in 2012 when Congress’s Sheila Dikshit was the chief minister of Delhi.

The alleged scam involved irregularities in hiring private tankers to supply water to areas in Delhi that are out of the DJB’s water pipeline network.

“It was Congress government that did the water tanker scam in 2012. But AAP, when came to power in 2015, instead of taking action against them, chose to remain silent,” said Gupta, who is also the leader of opposition in the Delhi assembly.

The AAP government in June 2015 had constituted a fact-finding committee to probe the irregularities in hiring nearly 385 stainless steel water tankers by the Delhi Jal Board in 2012.

Gupta said that he is raising the issue once gain as he feels that

Such serious allegations should not be thrown around and those who have made them should be asked to produce evidence.

₹2 crore that Kapil Mishra said he saw Satyendar Jain handing over to Arvind Kejriwal could have been a “kickback” through the tanker deal.

Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken, meanwhile, refuted the charges against Dikshit. “This is a case of political vendetta. Why did Kejriwal not take action against her in 2015?” he asked.

“It is because they have no proof to act against,” he said.

Despite repeated attempts, Dikshit could not be reached for a comment.
