recently celebrated it’s Annual Day where Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Inspector, General Human Rights Commission, graced the occasion as chief guest and Shammi Narang, an eminent media personalit­y, was the guest of honour. The lamp lighting by LR Channa, Chairman, Child Education Society, SK Bhattachar­ya, Secretary General, Child Education Society, Principal Meenu Goswami, and the dignitarie­s marked the beginning of the evening, which was followed by an Indo-western musical presentati­on and an Awadhi song. Senior students invoked Lord Shiva through their enchanting performanc­e ‘Rudra’. Principal Meenu Goswami rewarded the meritoriou­s students.

held the Annual General Meeting of the Parents Teachers Associatio­n in Claudine Hall. The solemn event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Sanjay Sharma, Honorary Joint General Secretary, read out the Annual Report of the PTA and Seema Chabbra, Treasurer, tabled the accounts. The theme was ‘Smart Parenting and Effective Child Rearing’, based and guarded by the principle of love.

A powerpoint presentati­on showcased various outreach programmes followed by an appeal for help. Guest speaker Sebastian Edassery, Director, Forensic Team of Deloitte, offered practical insights into effective cyber monitoring. Merin Joseph IPS, an illustriou­s alumnus, stressed the importance of being supportive to one’s child with regard to their aspiration­s.

Principal Sister Janet, in her capacity of PTA president, emphasised the crucial role played by parents and teachers in fostering children into becoming well rounded individual­s. The names of outgoing PTA members and of the new PTA committee for the year 2017-18 were announced. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and the national anthem.

Members from the Management, Mary George, President of the LCBM in India, Thomas T Roy, Manager & Secretary/ Treasurer of the LCBM in India, DA Tressler, Chairperso­n & Director, Somerville Schools, graced the occasion and presented tokens of appreciati­on to the staff members.

celebrated St. George’s Day with great pride and joy. A special assembly commenced with the school prayer, followed by Bible reading, pledge by students and staff, and a talk on St. George’s Day. Students performed a skit on Saint George. Principal Dr Sara George gave an inspiratio­nal message and wished everyone a happy St. George’s Day and inspired all students to be kind, considerat­e and generous to others. The programme concluded with rendition of National Anthem.

The school also donated 200 school bags, stationary items and refreshmen­ts to around 200 under privileged children.
