‘Wrong men held, reinvestigate case’

The lawyer of the three women who were allegedly gangraped at a colony of brick kiln workers in Rabupura in November last year, will meet UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath for the reinvestigation of the case.
Mozam Khan, the counsel, said that the accused, who have been arrested by the police, were never identified by the victims.
“Since November, three identification parades have been held and not even one man was identified by the women who were gang-raped and robbed,” Khan said.
The police arrested four men from Farrukhabad in March. They have confessed to having committed the crime, it said.
The matter is already sub-judice and police have already submitted its chargesheet in the court and four were sent to judicial custody. Khan said that since the arrest in March, police have not given details about any recovery.
Initially, police arrested some men in Kannauj. Later, they arrested five men in Tappal, Aligarh. Every time, the sequence of events did not match and the victims could not identify the accused, Khan added.
“In March they arrested four men from Farrukhabad and presented a chargesheet in the court without identification. Later we raised an objection and identification parade was held, still none of the women identified them,” said Khan.
Khan said the real culprits should not go scot-free. Police has taken this step to save its position from different quarters.
“As a counsel, I will meet the CM and brief him about this matter,” Khan added.
Meanwhile, Rajveer Singh Chauhan, SHO of Rabupura police station said they have all the evidence to show the involvement of the four accused. “We have arrested them after detailed investigations. The proofs have been submitted in the court as well. If men are not identified does not mean they are not criminals,” he added.
On the intervening night of November 1 and 2, six armed men allegedly struck an isolated colony of workers of a brick kiln adjacent to the Yamuna Expressway near Jewar. They allegedly tied up the men and boys before raping the women.
