BA Programme and English (Hons) are the top choices for students applying to undergraduate courses at Delhi University with both these courses having received close to 90 thousand applications.

The BA Programme course has received 90,188 applications and English (hons) has received 86,595 applications. BCom and Political Science are the third and fourth most popular courses having received 75,866 applications and 64549 applications, respectively.

University officials said one of the reasons for these courses getting maximum number of applications is because most students are eligible to take admission to these courses unlike other courses which have specific requirements.

“For Commerce and Science courses you need to have studied the subject otherwise there will be deduction of marks from the best of four aggregate. But all streams can apply for English (Hons) as everyone has studied the subject in school,” an official said.

Officials said that a high number of applications can also result into higher cutoffs.

“The cutoff is decided on the number of applications received and the number of seats available. But right now nothing can be said about the cutoff has applications are still being received.

The online registration process started on May 22 and will continue till June 12.

“Students can apply till June 12 and the first cutoff will come on June 20,” said the official.
