A 20-year-old BA second-year student was allegedly attacked with a knife by four youths for taking on the stalker of his sister. The attackers are all in their twenties.

The stalker, who had been harassing the woman for the past one-and-a-half years, was among the four who attacked him.

The crime took place on Wednesday night at the victim family’s home in south Delhi’s Govindpuri.

The attackers allegedly also verbally abused the student’s mother when she tried to stop them from entering her house.

The main accused allegedly wanted to meet and speak to the victim’s sister. All the four were allegedly drunk when they forcibly entered the house, said police.

Romil Baaniya, DCP (southeast), said, “A case of house trespass, physical assault and insulting the modesty of a woman was registered against them at the Govindpuri police station.”

The four, however, could not be arrested till Saturday evening.

In his complaint, the man told the police that he lives with his parents and siblings. His father owns a shop that sells cigarettes, tobacco and paan. On Wednesday around 11 pm, the man was sleeping in his second-floor room when he heard somebody calling out his sister’s name. His sister was sleeping in another room.

“When I came out, I saw two of my neighbours on the terrace with his two friends. They were all drunk. They got angry and turned abusive when I asked them why they wanted to meet my sister. One of them was shouting and threatening that he would kill my sister if she married anyone else,” said the man.

Hearing the commotion, the man’s mother arrived and asked the four to leave. The four started abusing her. This enraged her son who asked them to leave.

A scuffle broke out between them during which the accused allegedly took out a knife and attacked him.

The man suffered stab wounds on his left ear, chin, and right hand’s thumb. He was taken to AIIMS from where he was discharged after treatment.
