Giri’s body was handed over to his family after the autopsy. His family alleged that he was killed by a group of people for resisting robbery. The police, however, have refuted the allegations.

A native of Basti in Uttar Pradesh, Giri lived with his family in Shashi Garden near Pandav Nagar. He worked as a carpenter.
