Mishra produces ‘SEBI documents’ to support graft claims
Delhi minister Kapil Mishra allegedly produced SEBI documents on Monday to support his earlier claims that the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party had received “crores of rupees” from “shell companies” as donations.
Reiterating his allegations, Mishra said that there were discrepancies in the money received by AAP and the amount it declared before the Election Commission of India.
“Today, we are producing SEBI reports, which make it clear that there is a network of shell companies, having international links, which are donating crores of rupees to AAP. These companies are operated by chartered accountants and have links with MLAs of the ruling party,” Mishra alleged.
HT, however, could not verify the authenticity of the documents.
“Have fun. This is a daily entertainment,” said AAP leader Ashutosh.
“The SEBI documents also reveal how donations made by people like former Union minister Shanti Bhushan were being hidden from the ECI. The party is not showing these details. Fake PAN card details are being used to show some donations,” Mishra claimed.
The income-tax department had earlier claimed to have found that the audit reports prepared by the AAP for donations amounting to about ₹27 crore had discrepancies and were incorrect. “The IT has all the data and it had written to the ECI about this malpractice. The ECI has warned the AAP of derecognising the party. This is probably the only party to receive such a warning,” he added.
Asked why investigating agencies are not initiating any legal steps against the party, he said that these are organised white collar financial crimes and would need time.
