THE SDMC HAS DISTRIBUTED 200 TABLETS SO THAT OFFICIALS CAN MONITOR THE WORK DONE BY BREEDING CHECKERS

South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Monday launched an application and gave 200 tablets to domestic breeding checkers (DBCs) so that the senior officials can track the visits made by them in different areas.

Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat said with the help of the application installed in the tablets named VBDC (vector-borne disease control), the DBCs will be able to mark the details of their visits. This will be supervised by senior officials of the corporation.

In the first phase, DBCs working in most vulnerable areas like Jamia Nagar, Abul Fazal Enclave, Ayur Vigyan Nagar, Gautam Nagar, Masjid Moth, Vasant Kunj, Rajouri Garden among other areas have been given the tablets.

Besides, the DBC workers were also given a uniform and a hat so that people allow them to enter their households without any confrontation, especially gated colonies.

Addressing hundreds of DBC workers present on the occasion, Sehrawat said, “The uniform will also give you a pride and make you realise that you are working for a bigger cause which is to make Delhi free from diseases.”

She also announced that the DBCs will now be given weeklyoff only on weekdays.

“Most of the working people are not present in their homes on weekdays. Therefore, we have decided that DBC workers will be working on weekend,” she said.

The DBC workers have not been collecting data in their registers since 1996.

“With the new technology, DBC workers will be able to maintain the records online and can be easily shared with the senior officials. If the result is effective we will take it to all the wards,” said SDMC commissioner PK Goel.

The corporation has also sought support from RWAs and market associations. A senior official said that there are plans to recruit woman as DBC workers.

“We expect that there would be less confrontation if women are employed as DBC workers,” the official said.
