Rashtrapati Bhavan gets NDMC notices
New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has slapped several notices on Rashtrapati Bhavan after mosquito-breeding was observed at many pools of stagnant water on the sprawling complex.
“We have issued notices to various complexes and residential quarters in the President’s Estate over mosquito breeding. Officials have verified the condition at schools, dispensaries and other facilities constructed within the complex,” said an official.
But the exact number of notices issued to Rashtrapati Bhavan this year was not immediately available. Earlier this month, notices were issued to the civil engineer and junior engineer at the complex for keeping over 50-60 overhead tanks with rain water in them uncovered.
PK Sharma, medical officer of health and director (health services), NDMC, said the agency is emphasising the need to keep all overhead tanks covered.
“We have formed a team to inspect the areas. The team is surveying the area and we are issuing notices to defaulters, including those at the Presidential Estate. If things won’t improve we will issue heavy challans,” said Sharma.
Last year, NDMC had issued over 80 notices to President’s Estate after “heavy” mosquitobreeding at various places on its sprawling campus, he said.
