Separate road mishaps kills two, injures three

people were killed and three others, including a seven-month-old child, were injured in two separate accidents reported from different parts of Delhi on Thursday night.

In the first incident, a 27-yearold man was killed after a speeding truck hit motorcycle in west Delhi’s Vikaspuri on Thursday night. The man’s wife, his sevenyear-old son and seven-months old daughter were injured in the incident.

Police said the family was returning to Tilak Vihar near Tilak Nagar in west Delhi after attending a birthday party at their relative’s home in Vikaspuri when the accident took place around midnight.

According to the police, the man, identified as Rajnish Kumar, was crushed under the front left wheel of the truck after he fell from the bike he was riding. His wife, Rikal, and two children, Aashu, (7) and Anshika (7 months) survived because they fell on the right side of the truck. Kumar died on the spot while his wife and children were rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital where their condition was stated to be stable and out of danger.

The errant truck driver, identified as Dilawar Singh from Hoshiarpur in Punjab, was nabbed at the accident spot by local residents. The locals beat him up and then handed him over to the police.

Singh was arrested but managed to obtain bail later.

In the second accident reported from Hauz Khas, a 45-year-old pedestrian was killed after he was hit by a speeding car while he was crossing the road near the Chirag Delhi flyover.

The deceased was identified as Imtiyaz, a street vendor living in Garhi village. Police have arrested the car driver. HTC
