35-year-old man has been arrested for murdering his aunt in west Delhi last month.

Police said Lalit Chandna had stabbed his aunt over 60 times and then robbed valuables from her house because of his financial crisis. Priskilla David,50, was founded murdered inside her house on August 31.

Police said Chandna, who was in financial trouble, demanded some money from his cousin — daughter of the deceased woman. But the woman refused to give him money, which angered Chanda who decided to rob the family. According to police, on August 31, Chandna reached the New Moti Nagar house where Priskilla David was alone. He murdered her by stabbing repeatedly around 60 times with a pointed weapon (ice pick) and robbed R 5,500 and artificial jewellery, police said.

“The accused was arrested within 24 hours of the crime and the looted articles, weapon used in offence (ice-pick) and the blood-stained clothes of the assailant have been recovered,” said deputy commissioner of police (west) Vijay Kumar.

Police said that on scrutiny of the CCTV footage, Lalit, nephew of the deceased, was seen going towards her house. He was traced and interrogated.

Initially, he denied his involvement in the crime and kept misleading the police team. But finally, he broke down during interrogation and admitted that he committed the crime.

“He said he was in dire need of money as he was jobless. He first killed his aunt and then fled after taking the money and jewellery,” said Kumar.
