Three minors run over in three separate accidents in 48 hours

A CLASS 8 STUDENT WAS KILLED AND HIS TWO FRIENDS INJURED AFTER THE SCOOTER THEY WERE RIDING RAMMED A STATIONED CLUSTER BUS IN EAST DELHI’S MANDAWALI

NEW DELHI : Three minors were killed in separate road accidents in Delhi over the past two days.

In the first incident, a 5-yearold boy died after he was allegedly hit by a car in northwest Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh on Saturday. The driver has been arrested. The accident took place at 8.30 pm when the boy, Devesh, was returning home with his family after attending a Dussehra event.

A car coming allegedly ran over him from behind. The driver stopped the car and took a bleeding Devesh to a private hospital where he died during treatment, police said.

Devesh’s family lives in Shalimar Bagh. His father is an e-rickshaw driver and his mother is a homemaker. He has a two-year-old younger brother.

A case of rash driving has been registered and the driver, Vivek (19), was arrested. He is a student of Delhi University and is studying B.com (Hons).

“The car has been taken into possession. Investigat­ion is underway,” said a police officer.

In the second incident, a twoyear-old boy was killed after he was hit by a car in northwest Delhi’s Maurya Enclave on Friday. At about 11.10am, the victim, Aham, was walking to a temple with his father when a white car came from behind them and ran over Aham.

The car driver took the victim with his father to Muni Maya Ram Hospital where Aham was declared brought dead.

A FIR was registered at Maurya Enclave police station under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code against the driver based on the statement of the victim’s father. Aham lived with his family in GP Block, Pitampura.

In the third case, a Class 8 student of a government school was killed and his two friends critically injured after the scooter they were riding rammed a stationed cluster bus in east Delhi’s Mandawali on Saturday night. The three were returning home after celebratin­g Dussehra in Patparganj.

Police said all three were without helmets. The boy who died was identified as Rohan,14. The injured were his friends Tushar and Babloo, all residents of West Vinod Nagar. The scooter belonged to Tushar’s father, said police.
