Honeypreet’s maternal uncle asks her to surrender
HISAR: The maternal uncle of Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s ‘adopted’ daughter Honeypreet has asked her to surrender and join the probe into the violence that rocked Sirsa after the Dera Sacha Sauda chief’s conviction for rape.
Honeypreet’s uncle Ashok Babbar’s plea comes after her cousin Vijay Taneja made a similar request on Thursday.
Babbar, a businessman by profession, told the media on Satur- day night that Honeypreet aka Priyanka Taneja — who has been in hiding ever since the violence — should surrender as soon as possible.
Recently, the Delhi high court denied anticipatory bail to the Dera chief’s ‘daughter’ — who figures in the Haryana police’s list of most wanted — and asked her to surrender.
“Everyone is worried now. We don’t even know where she is. She has not contacted anyone since August 25. We request her to surrender,” Babbar said.
He also rubbished media reports about sexual relations between Honeypreet and Ram Rahim. “I really don’t understand on what basis the media is saying there were relations between Honeypreet and Dera chief Ram Rahim. She was his adopted daughter and that is the truth,” Babbar added.
Talking about the progress in the case, Sirsa superintendent of police Ashwin Shenvi said, “Teams are working round the clock to nab Honeypreet, Dera spokesperson Aditya Insan and former spokesperson Pawan Insan.”
EX-DERA MEMBER GETS SECURITY
Meanwhile, the Sirsa police on Saturday registered a case and strengthened the security of Gurdas Singh Toot, a former sadhu of the Dera Sacha Sauda, after he allegedly received a threat from the sect’s ‘Qurbani Wing’.
In his police complaint, Toot said some unidentified miscreants destroyed the CCTV cameras installed outside his house.
SP Shenvi said a case of rioting and mischief by fire or explosive substance to destroy the house had been registered against unidentified people.
